Relation As Books Through the Wall (Miss Silver #19)
Marion a Brand is a young woman of modest means who through hard work has managed to support her frail sister and shiftless brother-in-law. It is a stroke of luck when she unexpectedly inherits a large fortune from her unknown uncle, Martin Brand. She soon learns that he has bypassed his other, closer relatives in her favor.Marion moves into the seaside family home with her newfound relations. They are a scheming group who sorely resent her presence: Felix, a temperamental concert pianist; two elderly sisters, Miss Cassy Remington and Mrs. Florence Brand; and young Penny Halliday, a cousin. Shortly after Marion’s arrival a murder is committed and all the evidence points to her. But the disbelieving police call on Miss Silver to observe the household discreetly from within and, if she can, to solve the riddle of who is actually responsible for the killing before anyone else comes to harm.

A very good Miss Silver mystery. A young woman inherits a fortune and house from an uncle she didn't know. The house is inhabited by a collection of distant cousins, several of whom are angry that they weren't remembered in the will. Murder ensues, but Miss Silver untangles the situation. The indomitable Miss Silver and her keen insight into human nature solve yet another diabolically selfish and dreadful run of murders.[Miss Silver said to Helen Adrian] "You asked me to come here this afternoon because you wanted me to see these people. They are dangerous.Ina Felton went to the local library to meet her husband who absented himself after they had a
Marian Brand is lost in deep thought as she takes the train homeward from a meeting she had been summoned to with a lawyer. A very wealthy uncle she had not been aware of left her a large legacy and a large house. On her journey home, she meets Richard Cunningham, a very successful writer. Only, they are under the train, saved by a ditch in a bad train crash with a couple of hours to talk together until they are rescued. This is another entertaining mystery with Miss Silver once again the one who

Number 19 out of 32 Miss Silver mysteries, this one has a rather unique setting of a house with duplicate wings, joined together by a door on each level of the house that is locked on one side and bolted on the other (a little like those doors in hotels/motels which can be opened if two rooms are to be used as a suite). Once again Patricia Wentworth has created characters that you like and characters that you don't like. Blackmail comes into this one, as it does in many in this series, but the
I really enjoyed this, so it would have a much higher rating from me - - except (view spoiler)[SERIOUSLY?? Yet ANOTHER "she was wearing someone else's garment so she was killed by mistake"??? That makes four I've read in this series in the past few weeks! The minute the first victim put on someone else's bright and colorful scarf, I said "Oh no" - but then it looked like no, the killer meant to murder that person. But no. They didn't. Just like the other three oopsie killers. This is ridiculous.
I have enjoyed all of Patricia Wentworth 's books that I have read so far. I will be sorry to finish the Miss Silver books but I found there a few others. Miss Silver is quite a dear old lady but one must n't think she is not to be reckoned with. The other characters in her books are always different but based on the times in that period of which she writes.
LoveLove her and love her stories. Can't wait to read more of her stories. Wish I lived in that time period and had a friend like Miss Silver
