Chronicle To Books The Intruders
Six teenagers from the Bronx set out to explore a cave in their neighborhood and end up three centuries into the future. After saving the life of one member of a tribe, the Bronx teens are accepted. Within weeks, however, they find themselves in the middle of a fight for survival. Another tribe living in Manhattan is bent on wiping out the tribe in the Bronx. These teenagers have a unique advantage in this war—they know the land. For the six, this becomes a true adventure. However, all too soon their adventure becomes very real. Their dog dies, and now both friends and enemies are getting killed. This was no longer fun—this was war!

I must admit - I only got a little over half way thru this book, and while it was an easy read - it was almost too easy a read. The writing is rather juvenile and almost non-written. No descriptions nor tension nor conflict...just a listing of happenings and some drab dialogue. There may be a good tale here..but Peart doesn't seem to know at all how to tell it.Olive Peart's "The Intruders" is an adventure story of 6 teens who traveled centuries into the future via a cave in the Bronx. Depending on each other and their knowledge of their city, they survived and proved helpful the people they met during their journey. I recommend this story to middle school readers.
This is a Goodreads First Reads Giveaway review.This novel is geared for teens. I loved it. I hope like some that this gets turned into a movie! I love dystopian books. One of my favs is the Hunger Games and Eve. I do wish she would have taken more time to develop the characters and the romance that lies in this book.
I read this book while on vacation with my sisters. I didn't like the cover and thought that it could be more eye-catching. In addition, I kept making comments out loud about different details mentioned in this book that I thought were kind of weird and my sisters agreed with me. Like when the one teen attacks a coyote with a stick. It became a joke between us to in which every half hour or so, they would ask me if I had read anything strange again. It's less than 300 pages but I'm finding myself distracted by the most mundane things.There are too many characters, not enough character development, too much dialogue, not enough exposition, it's a convoluted (even for sci-fi) plot with little development. A decent childrens story but lacking in world-building (the apocalyptic future is never explained), characterisations (I can't remember a single character, they were all so similar in their descriptions) and decent story-boarding. The premise for this story had a lot of potential. A young adult novel set in a dystopian future with a time travel element seems like a winning formula. However, the execution of this story was poor.The characters are presented with little to no introduction. There are six main characters and no character development.
